A lineup of Iranian movies is set to be reviewed at the 7th edition of Paris Iranian Film Festival.

Movies related to Iran’s post-revolution cinema will be reviewed in a program entitled ‘Once Upon a Time ... 1979’.

Hossein Torabi’s documentary ‘For Freedom’ is the highlight of the program. The film was listed among the British Film Institute (BFI) Southbank top ten docs that shook the world.

The screening will then continue with Bahram Beyzaie’s 1979 movie ‘Ballad of Tara’, 1985 adventure movie ‘Frosty Roads’ by Masoud Jafar-Jozani, Ali Jakan’s 1985 drama ‘The Mare’, Nasser Taqvaei’s 1987 drama ‘Captain Khorshid’, and Saeed Ebrahimifar’s 1988 fiction film ‘Fire and Grenade’.

The Parisian film festival will also host ‘The New Breaths’ (1980) by Kianoush Ayyari and ‘Iran: A Cinematographic Revolution’ (2006) by Nader T. Homayoun.

Besides post-revolution cinema, the festival will also shed light on some latest productions from Iranian cinema with films such as  ‘Sheeple’ by Houman Seyyedi, ‘As I lay Dying’ by Mostafa Sayyari, ‘Rona, Azim’s Mother’ co-directed by Jamshid and Navid Mahmoudi, ‘Astigmatism’ by Majid-Reza Mostafavi and ‘Hat-trick’ by Ramtin Lavafi.

Several French institutions are organizing the festival in collaboration with the Iranian Short Film Association and the Iran Film Archives.

The event is scheduled for June 12-18, 2019.
